After thought and discussion, I penciled three concept sketches that I felt were indicative of the direction I wanted to go.

I wanted to have the text and image be cohesive as well consider how the viewer’s eye will move through the image.

I played with the idea of the brain being a maze, a map or a bunch of mementos where the memory is half-remembered but lost. If I included a figure, I wanted it to be disoriented in a way that alludes to the theme of ‘lost’. I also started considering what text I wanted to use in my poster for the body text and title. I liked the idea of making the title a bit illustrative.

I had the idea of including dandelions as a motif for a while because I felt like the plant can represent the feeling of memories floating away from a central point. As a weed, it also suggested how for the average person, our memories go through a process of being neglected and even cast off if we don’t revisit them or feel that they are significant. Some memories however, are like weeds and just won’t go away even when you want them to.

My typography was kind of lacklustre in my concept designs, so I decided to experiment in that area.
